Where are all the fetish sites going?
January 15, 2010 12:14AM
Hi folks!

While I was going through my usual routine of visiting my favourate rainwear sites today I was saddened to see that it looks like we have lost another 2, Suits & Boots.coc.uk and RainwearMen. As I write, it would seem that only this forum, Regnfrakker.dk and Rainwear 24/7 seem to be active. At present, I'm looking into setting up a site but I haven't got a clue what I'm doing with MySQL, PHP etc so its going to be a long hard struggle learning all this stuff before I get anything presentable put together but I can't help wondering if it's really worth my while given the lack of interedt that seems to surround such a site. If nothing else I suppose at least I'll learn something!

That is very sad indeed ! I was shocked when I saw rainwearmen is now something of the past.

Regnfrakker is not that bad really, I really enjoy it. The sad thing is I am one of the admins and we have to remove any sexual content pictures (showing sex or privates). So it is not that open for all types of videos.

I was thinking of either merging with them or expanding this site in the future - but I first need to think of the implications and impact of that. For me it is very important to have a central site like this that is owned by one of us and not hosted on some service platform that can close it down anytime they like. Especially not when they put their ads everywhere and make money from it.

Maybe that is the answer then ? This site should serve as a public message board to these other hosted sites and if they get closed down at least we all have a central point to talk about it and link to the next one the finger smiley

Oh, another thing I am thinking of is migrating to phpBB3. Phorum is nice and all but not the greatest.

Suitsandboots is still going(just).I find it difficult to use compared to this one;sometimes I have to retype and submit my posts, and sometimes I can't be bothered.I think once members get out of the habit of regularly viewing and contributing a vicious spiral of decline starts.Thats why I think as we have a very good site here, why fragment it?

I did propose to suitsandboots to join up with the rainwearforum - but got no response.
I think the owner is still making a sizeable amount of change on the side with the Google Ads on that site.

If you need help setting up phpBB3 then i can help, that goes for both of you, Paul and DundeeDavie. phpBB3 is definitely a good forum software, but the setting up of permissions and sub/forums can be rather hard because phpBB doesn't support inheritage.

Wouldn't it be a bad idea to just open more fetish sites and spread out the activity? I think a better goal would be to make the ones we have better.

We have had a site for Finnish speaking Rainwearfriends for a few years with appr 400 members. It has a forum, gallery, stories and files sections and private messaging property. Now we are testing a beta version of a new site done with Joomla, which will be open for everyone soon. It may be difficult for foreign people to join it, because of the language barrier, but the Google translator is a pretty good helper. I will give you the URL when the new version is ready.

Yes, Dundee, I was curious about Rainwear 24/7. I tried a search on Yahoo! for the website but I could not find it. Is it possible to post a link in response to this thread because i am intrigued about this website.

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses, firstly, I take back what I said about Suits & Boots having gone, it must have been a glitch in my browser stopping me from opening the link. I'm suprised that Google doesn't bring up Rainwear 24/7, I can't remember how I came across the site but I'm pretty sure it was through a search engine, anyway, here's the link: [www.rainwear247.com] it's pretty much dead in terms of activity. My own site is starting to progress, I've got a reasonably priced hosting service, installed Drupal 6.15 on it and I found a good tutorial site that shows you how to build a site step by step which is perfect for me as I'm a complete noob to all this!

The Yahoo Groups are still active - I'm a member of quite a few. Also Vinylrain has good content. Plasticfun is another. Flickr has a good selection of groups / pools too but postings are limited.
